Prolonging a Flower Arrangement?

The flower arrangements in our office reception tables are changed by the florist every week, even though we have an airconditioned enviorenment, we find the flowers drying up ahead of the 7 days period (due to the dry atmosphere and hot weather), is there something we can do like cover the bouquets in polythene overnight to prolong freshness, or put some chemical in the water, or any other domestic tactic you know off... etc ???

Prolonging a Flower Arrangement?
I have heard if you put an aspirin in the water it will last longer something, make sure that the arrangement has plenty of water. Good luck
Reply:tell the florist that you would like to have the arrangements made with longer lasting flowers whenever possible.

They can do a lot to chose flowers that are likely hold up better.

They should be using flower conditioner/food in the water when they are arranging them. They might be able to give you extra pack of it to use during the week.

If you notice the water getting cloudy or dirty, change it.Cooler temperatures will help slow the aging process.

Make sure they aren't getting in sun or being hit by a bright(halogen type) light, the heat will age them.

Remove spent flowers.

don't cover them that will speed the deterioration.

You could put them on the floor at night, it is cooler on the floor.
