I want to have some type of Persian Silk Tree/Pink Siris/Mimosa arrangement at my reception?

I want to have some type of Persian Silk Tree/Pink Siris/Mimosa arrangement at my reception, but cannot find any merchants that sell them. I use all 3 names because that is what the flower is being referred to that I like. It looks like a pink and white feather. I'd like to put some tufts in with my bouquet or decorate the reception area with either real or artificial trees. Any ideas?

Try this page. It lists several retailers that sell the flower.

Reply:The Mimosa that I have used doesn't look like what you are describing. The one I am familiar with has blossoms shaped like mini oranges on a branch like stem and has a very limited season for availability.

I usually get mine from my floral wholesaler. Go to a local florist and see if they can acquire it for you.

you could do a centerpieces of clear glass bowles have blue or red stones at the bottom and a white candle (floating). On the tables you could have different color table clothes One red with blue napkins a blue one with red napkinsandthen have the wedding party table white with red and blue napkins. Here are a cople of ideals for favors a candy or candle . Check the links below

Do check out your local craft store thay might be able to come up with more ideals to.

Good luck.
Reply:Red, white and blue
Reply:Be really delicate in how you include red white and blue. It's a great combo. Pick one of those colors and make that your MAIN color. For instance:

Red as the main color: bridesmaids in red, red roses/flowers for decorations, primarily red invites, chocolate favors in red boxes with a white ribbon with your name written in blue.

Use blue and white for hints of color. For instance, your invites can have a red front. Go with a postcard style invite. Put your writing in blue on the back. A photo of you in black and white on the front. Carry red and white flowers down the aisle and have your bouquet tied with blue ribbon. Same goes for your bridesmaides.

Surround your table centerpiece with silver gilttery stars.

Use or red white table lines. If you use red table linens, get white chair covers and use a blue bow tie for them!

Maybe have blue candles coming out of your central display (floral or other). Or, if you prefer have your sparklers protruding out of your central display.

If you really like spraklers, it'd be neat to have the hotel (or wherever your getting married) put off a hold bunch as you and your new husband go through the doors/entrance to your reception.

Just ideas. Hope they help!

Consider doing fireworks. I went to a wedding that featured that and quite cool! Go also to 4th of july wedding on Google even though that is not when your wedding is it still offeres alot of ideas such as above mentioned and floral. Much it fun and different! Best of everything!
Reply:Friends of mine got married 4th of July weekend a few years ago. For the reception they had a B-B-Q theme with checkered table clothes and just simple vases with red, white, and blue carnations with silver spirals. The reception was very tasteful. The wedding itself was very elegent with red white and blue flowers. The brides maids wore red dresses. The ring bearer wore a navy blue tux that had shorts. The flower girls wore blue and white dresses. Instead of baskets they carried metal pails with white and red rose petals.
Reply:It all really depends on your location. (Outdoors? Indoors? A large grassy area or a church reception hall?)

For starters, let's start with the basics: a theme. You could do the glitzy end of July 4th, with lots of sparkle and kitsch. That's fun... if it's not overdone. You have to watch out to walk that line for yourself and your guests.

When you say "American" color scheme, the first thing that pops into my head is Americana, like East Coast/Pennsylvania style. Not "country" but more shabby chic. For this, you'll want to consider a deeper crimson red and a navy blue with antiqued country white for colors. Think simple.

For table decorations, consider putting antiqued white wooden elements together with your greenery. A charming wooden birdhouse can be bought cheap at most arts %26amp; crafts stores (Michael's; Hobby Lobby; Garden Ridge... sometimes even Wal-Mart) and spray-painted to look antique. Tie an accent colored cranberry ribbon around it for a simple and cost-effective accessory. Sometimes these stores also have church-shaped cut-outs pre-formed for painting.

Alternatively, heart-shaped wooden cut-outs could be spray-antiqued and laid among greenery (I'm thinking trails of ivy and other green succulents and simple red roses and/or daisies interwoven) either along serving tables or made into circles for wreaths at tables (assuming you do one of the ever-popular hurricane candle table centerpieces). In lieu of the hurricane, though, you should look around your local craft stores and thrift markets for old (or old-looking!) lanterns. They would lend charm and character to any reception table, plus they add the benefit of securing a candle's flame.

For centerpieces at dining tables you don't want something too tall, or else your guests can't see each other to converse when seated at the table. (the aforementioned lantern idea would be a good height to stay under.) You can have a few tall pieces scattered throughout your event space, though (e.g., on the cake tables and Bride's table). For those taller centerpieces, it's a lovely idea (and one I used in a similar manner at my own English Garden-themed wedding) to take a tall garden bucket (tall enough to hold long-stemmed roses - about 16 to 20 inches height) and fill it with roses. The bucket can retain its natural metal color or be antiqued. For interest, tie ribbons of two varying colors and widths into bows on the handles and let the ribbon ends trail down about 8 inches down the bucket.

I would suggest finding a few Americana-inspired fabrics that you like and using them to layer over your table linens. Making simple squares of fabric to lay under your centerpiece can add depth and convey a theme very effectively, and they're very simple to sew (like sewing a napkin - all you have to do is hem). You can dress the edges up with grosgrain ribbon or beads, and it adds a lot of depth.

Another floral option is to take cranberry, ivory, and navy florals and arrange them in stripes (of varying widths) around a styrofoam ball (12 inches or so in diameter would be most dramatic). Then place the ball on the diagonal in the middle of the table and let coordinating ribbons radiate out from it on the table. You could do multiple sizes and group them on a table for a very chic look.

Finally, you could have your departure through a tunnel of fireworks sparklers.... a friend of mine did that, and it was very elegant and made a wonderful picture. Hand out the sparklers and have everyone do a mock-military sword salute tunnel while holding the sparklers up for you and your husband to run under. Don't worry, unless you have LOTS of guests, the sparklers probably won't hurt your wedding dress.

Best of luck!
Reply:How about red and white striped tableclothes and some blue, star-shaped glitter strewn around? You could name the tables (if there's pre-arranged seating) after national monuments of major historical figures. Serve the sort of food you'd have at a Fourth of July picnic, like potato salad, and grilled chicken.

Whatever you choose, have fun with your theme, but don't go too overboard. A few touches will amuse and delight your guests. A few too many will make them wonder if you're really taking things seriously.

I am llooking on ebay for a glass centerpiece, but i can't remember what they are called. You see them in many

celebrity weddings. They are really, really tall vases in a v shape and they usually have colored water in them or some type of liquid and a big flower arrangement at the top. I found them along time ago on ebay but can't remember now. Could someone please tell me the name of these vases and/or find websites with pictures of them. Thanks

How do I make fruit arrangements similar to edible arrangements?

I am looking into cutting the melons in flower shape and pineapple in star shapes. I noticed they also make other shapes. Any good websites for fruit carving?

How do I make fruit arrangements similar to edible arrangements?
I went to Culinary Arts school, and my boyfriend is a chef. The way edible arrangement does it is by using fruit cutters and not ripe fruit. That way the fruit doesn't get mushy. Try using metal cookie cutters with basic shapes to get the form you want. Remember edible arrangements does only flowers and stars, the rest is about placement. Also invest in a sharp pairing knife to cut around the fruit. Dull knifes create more problems than what's worth.

Suggestions for wedding centre pieces?

I am geeting married %26amp; for the reception I am looking for ideas - whether to have flowers balloons.......it was suggested to me that I could have flower arrangement with balloons coming out, but I cant find any pictures to see what this looks like - anyone else had flowers %26amp; balloons?

Suggestions for wedding centre pieces?
Try an ice sculpture!
Reply:Flowers and balloons are nice, but make sure that if you speak to the florist that does the arriagement that the balloons are not tacky. Good Luck
Reply:I would do a a high tier centerpiece and do the small balloons with flowers intermixed or you can go to a florist for for more ideas
Reply:Ice carvings (sculpture) with dolphins, etc, and drinks flowing from this. These can be very nice, and last as long as the reception. Take photographs for your wedding album. Good luck.
Reply:just go to google and type in the thyme of your wedding and centerpieces

Ex: Cinderella wedding center pieces
Reply:go to your local balloon shop they should have a catalogue of what they do. most cater for weddings they do all sorts they can do balloon arches as well. congratulations and good luck. where do you live? i know of a good balloon shop in North London if you're interested
Reply:Have you thought about being abit different and going for Doves.

They make a wedding center peice spectacular. Two doves in a white cage as your center piece and the most attractive part of it all is the release. You both at the end walk out together holding the cage. The doves can be released almost anywhere ; at a church, in a garden, in a park, on the water, out in the country or in the town.

The doves are trained to fly up to distances ranging From 5 to 500 miles ! This training is carried out by very experienced handlers over a long period. The doves are fed on a very high protein diet ,just like many athletes, to ensure that they are in the very best condition to perform. The doves are transported to the venue in special approved pigeon carriers by an experienced handler. They are then transferred to the more decorative basket for the ceremony or at your reception.

Doves are the symbol of True Love, and it would be something different if you fancied it.

There it explains everything they do ok.
Reply:I would do just flowers in the vases. Use mirrors under the vases.
Reply:Try vases filled with lemons, another with limes, another with small oranges, then add water to the vases. It's cheaper than flowers.
Reply:I'm thinking of doing something like small glass globes with some of those pretty glass rock things from Hobby Lobby, at the bottom and filling it with some water and put one of those floating candles in it. Just an idea if you are on a budget and don't wanna spend a whole lot on flowers. I don't know if I would go with balloons as it would make it look somewhat like a birthday, but I guess it would depend on what color balloons. Best Wishes and Congratulations! :)
Reply:I recently went to a wedding and they had huge wine glasses placed onto circular cut mirrors. the wine glass had a cream church style candle in the center. Then they sprinkled rose petals around the table and silver glitter. The tables looked stunning and away from the usual flowers or balloons.
Reply:Hi !

Everyones wedding is totally different, if you have the money to spend, i suggest you invest in simple glass peices (check www.illuminations.com for ideas) . if you have a theme you can easily adapt these to match, for eg if you are having a Beach theme, add some clean Sand to the bottom , then top off with seashells that you can get off e-bay or amazon.

If you dont have a Wedding theme, then match back your wedding colours. use Winding willow to give your centerpiece height (check your florist for this, it should be cheap) .

For more ideas, check this link : http://weddings.theknot.com/odb/results....

Also, if you do choose to use the balloons, please be careful, Ballons have been outdated from weddings , since they do tend to look a bit more birthday party-ish. Also, if you are going for a clean ,elegant look, balloons should not be considered!

Now, you CAN do the ballons, so here are some links to see what you can do with the balloons. I would advise to choose Smaller balloon, so as not to block anyones view!

Reply:you could try small beta fish bowls( the ones with the scalloped edges) and not put fish in but decorate the rim with ribbon( the colors of your wedding) and put small pearled stones in them.

went to a wedding where they had them and they looked beautiful on the tables.
Reply:DONT DO THE FLOWER BALLOON!! Unless you want your wedding to look like a sweet sixteen event. Trust me they are so tacky. I've seen them and it just screams "Hi I have NO class." whatever the theme is for your wedding you should have center pieces that match obviously. My friend had hers on a vineyard and on the table centerpieces were bottles of wine tied together to look like a boquet so everyone at the table at the end of the night got to bring a full bottle of wine home. These center pieces are going to be ripped to shreds at the end of the night or stolen by the end of the night by guests anyway. Might as well kill two birds with one stone by making them the little keepsake people take away with them and spend the 2 grand you saved on center pieces and add on a third week to your honeymoon.
Reply:Hi, I would check with your venue as when I went to see them about the decorations for my wedding reception they told me its best to go with just balloms as the flower arrangements just take up the table space, We are having round tables. So we are having balloons.

I suppose you can always ask at the reception venue weather or not its ok for you to have them as you dont want to get your heart set on something and find out you can have it that way.

It was ok for me as I wasnt into having any flower arrangements as they where to expensive so Im now having balloon and Ive seen pics and it looks lovely.

Icant believe my wedding is like in 6 weeks

Hypergeometric probability distribution?

Keith's fllorist has 15 delivery trucks, used mainly to deliver flowers and flower arrangements in the turlsa area. suppose 6 of the 15 trucks have brake problems. five of the trucks were selected at random to be tested. what is the probability that 2 of those selected have brake problems?

plz show how you got the ansewers so that i understand? thanks

Hypergeometric probability distribution?
Solving Hypergeometric Probability Distributions is relatively easy. The hardest part is deciding what to consider success and what to consider failure. I'm going to use finding a truck with a brake problem a success! (Failed brakes = success, Good brakes = failure)

Remember, the denominator is finding the total number of combinations that you could choose 5 delivery trucks from the population of 15. 15C5 = 3003

The question asks to find the probability of when selecting 5 (sample size) we will have exactly 2 to be successes (faulty brakes)...

To find the numerator of the probability, we need to find out the number of combinations of both selecting 2 out of 6 trucks in the population that have faulty brakes 6C2 = 15

Then we need to multiply that to see how many different combinations will give us 3 (out of sample of 5) to have working brakes. If there are 9 in the population, we only need three. 9C3 = 84

So...

P(x) = 15*84/3003 = 0.4196

Hope that's clear enough!

A friend wants to give his girlfriend a floral arrangement...but wants a Korean floral arrangement. Any advice

Also would like to know the meaning behind any suggestion offered. Why a certain flower...how does it pertain to Korea...and what is the flower's meaning.

Thanks for any and all help.

Find out the natural flora in Korea, then try to find these or simular flowers in the US. The two Koreas might have national flowers or something maybe you could research that.
