Fake water for flower arrangements?

I just put a silk flower arrangement together in a vase and added that fake water stuff. It says it will harden in 24-48 hours but by now shouldn't it at least be getting thicker? it has been 6 hours. It says to use it in 65-74 degree temps so I am at 70. I know i mixed it right.

Fake water for flower arrangements?
give it time, it is a chemical reaction.
Reply:Leave it alone, we use it at work all the time and it takes quit awhile to even start to gel. Walk away and don't touch it!!!!

Can I use mistletoe in with flower arrangements?

You can. But they are not a very attractive plant and may detract from the beauty of the other flowers in the arrangement.

Can I use mistletoe in with flower arrangements?
In some countries, mistletoe is considered a parasitic weed...and therefore, you cannot purchase it. Although it may have colonized an area following introduction by mistletoe lovers; in which case you can find it in the wild.
Reply:Just don't include the berries. The berries are poisonous.

I'm looking for a how to on making a baby shower flower arrangement out of washcloths etc. Have seen before.

I know of the diaper cake, you could put flowers on it :). Here is a site with different diaper cakes, then the mom can keep them. I think it is adorable. If you used newborn diapers, I am sure you could make a bunch of little ones.

I'm looking for a how to on making a baby shower flower arrangement out of washcloths etc. Have seen before.
all i know is a tree. which you wrap the wash cloths one at a time. (roll them) then you put like 8 together (we used ribbon) tie them and then 4 then 2. We also put a baby bottle in the middle for support. I also seen them done were they tied things to the tree like spoons or small toys. Any thing that is a small item.
Reply:I am not sure of a website but i am sure if you go into google and search something there something is bound to pop up about it.. i have never heard of it so if you find a site send me a pic of one.. it sounds neat.

They'll make anything for you even include chocolate in your arrangement
Reply:Does your great-grandmother like the smell of fresh pine? If she doesn't mind the aroma of fresh pine try calling a florist, explain you would like a centerpiece with some pine, a few pine cones, a few red and white carnations, a candle and vase and a pretty red bow in it. I usually send centerpieces off to a couple of my relatives and they love the centerpiece of fresh pine and a candle.
Reply:I know Michaels has a good assortment of fake flower arrangements (very pretty). Otherwise, try a grocery store like Cub Foods. They usually have many options with carnations.

What kind of flower arrangements do I need for my wedding?

I'm getting married in May and have an appointment with my florist next week. She wants me to have an idea of what I want for arrangements and such, but I'm not quite sure what I need, other than the obvious boquets and boutineers. How many arrangements are typical? I'm just not sure where to start because I've never been one to pay attention to those type of things!

What kind of flower arrangements do I need for my wedding?
Everyone is giving you good advice, you need to know who gets flowers, as well as start thinking of where you want flowers (don't forget your cake). As equally important though is to know what kind of flowers you DO NOT want. Even if you don't have anything definite in mind of what you do want. It's all a matter of taste - I told my florist if I say a daisy or carnation she was doing them all over again! - but that's just me, you may think differently and that's alright. Go to Google Images and search for wedding flowers and you'll have tons of ideas you can print out to take with you of both things you like and dislike.

Good Luck!
Reply:Hi. Don't worry....that is their business! They are willing to work with you. I think what she means is...perhaps cut out and bring in some pictures of bouquets that you like either from the computer or from a bridal magazine. Look through things and get an idea. Also, she will want to know your colors, etc. They will ask you all that at the meeting.

Go in with some ideas as far as pictures and what you want to spend. Then they will give you a quote and you can go from there! It all depends on what you want to spend. How many corsages/boutonnieres you need, etc. Don't worry about that now....they have a form and will ask you all those questions at the meeting. For my son's wedding, I went with my daughter-in-law and we had a couple meetings with the florist and also a few phone calls and emails changing and adding.

Good luck!
Reply:You can have as many or as few flower arrangements as you like and can afford. The bouquets are a popular choice and then button hole flowers for the guys and flowers for the Mother of the Bride and Mother of the Groom can be matched. You can have flowers in the church or down the aisle of where the ceremony is to be held. Those same flowers can be relocated to the reception location to save money. Personally we only had bouquets and button holes and flowers for the Mums. They look terrific in photos. I didn't have any other arrangements. My tastes are simple. Hope things go terrifically well for your wedding day and married life together. All the best.
Reply:You and each of your bridesmaids needs a boquet. All the groomsmen need a boutineer. It is nice to give the fathers of the bride and groom one too, and give the mothers a corsage. Then you will need to consider if you want flowers for decor during the ceremony on the aisles or at the altar. And most people use flowers for centerpieces, so how ever many tables your reception will have.
Reply:You will obviously need the boquets for you and all of your girls in the wedding and boutineers for all of the men. The mothers of both the bride and groom should have either a flowers to pin on their dress (slightly different from the style of the men) or they should have flowers on their wrist (corsage) The fathers of the bride and groom should also have a boutineer. You may want to think about having a smaller version of your boquet to throw at your reception so you may save yours to preserve if you choose.
Reply:First off where are you having the wedding?..in a church, outside? Next, consider the time of year. Ask what flowers will be in season (will help cut costs) The other thing is that you need to know your color scheme. When I picked out flowers, my florists was SO helpful. She showed me books of flowers...colors, styles, arrangements. Make sure your florist is happy to be of help to you. She/He should be willing to take the time to help you. This is a huge decision and not one that we make everyday! Keep in mind where you want flowers...guest signing table, reception tables, cake table...ect. Good luck and congratulations!!
Reply:my florist walked me through everything...I had NO idea what I wanted and left feeling very confident and excited with my decision...you will need the bouquets (remember if you are doing a toss to have them do a "fake" one too), boutineers, coursages for the mothers, pedals for the flower girls, (my florist is doing a head thing for the flower girls), flowers for the cake table...centerpieces...and any things that you will want to decorate...some people also do florals for the aisle.

In which site i can find cold porcelain flower arrangements?
COLD PORCELAIN RECIPE

2 tbsp. of baby oil

1cup of Elmer’s glue

1/4 cup of cornstarch

Cook in small saucepan on the lowest heat for 16 to 20 minutes. Turn out on to cornstarch dusted board and knead in about 1/4 cup of cornstarch, just enough to make a smooth, non-sticky paste. Roll out using cold cream instead of Crisco to grease the board. If you want your porcelain to be white and less translucent, use white titanium acrylic paint added to paste until you reach the desired color. Store it in an airtight container.

There are not any comprehensive tutorials on miniature cold porcelain flower arrangements but there are wesites with pictures. You can also get ideas from miniature fimo or polymer clay floral arrangements.

Cel Crafts has some pictures of cold porcelain flower arrangements for inspiration and a tutorial for white chrysanthemums.

Pepperwood Miniatures has a large gallery of colorful tiny floral arrangements for ideas.

How to make funeral flower arrangements?

I want to learn how to make funeral flower arrangements

How to make funeral flower arrangements?
take a flower arranging class - most community colleges offer these types of non-credited courses.
Reply:fortunately people are getting away from the old fashioned spider mums and stargazer lilies! what type are you thinking - those for the altar, the grave blanket or the wreaths and soffin throws -- all that comes from a school that has a floral program unless you can get in with a small town older florist who'd willing to take on interns.

Does anyone knows of a school or training center where they teach how to make flower arrangements?

My mom has being looking to get into flowers "meaning arraging flowers, taking care of them, decorating, etc" but haven't had any luck in finding a place where they teach this type of things; any suggestions NJ %26amp; NY AREA

Does anyone knows of a school or training center where they teach how to make flower arrangements?
Your local botanical gardens probably offer these courses for a fairly nominal fee. Also, you could try your local florist for a referral or even a job.
Reply:do a web search or contact local florist. Hint: Greenleaf is a big wholesale florist across the country........they may have training courses. You'll have to dig through their website. Or contact them directly in the NY/NJ area.
Reply:You might check the continuing education departments of your high school district. If you have a decent sized craft store in the area, they might hold classes for crafters
Reply:Our community college offers adult education and always has a course or two on flower arranging and decorating.

Help her advertise, tell everyone you meet that there is a really great flower shop opening soon and the flowers are the best quality you have ever seen at a very good price.

Maybe she could have a special offer like buy some flowers and get a free card, or buy 9 flowers and get another free.

Write an article about your friend and how great her flower arranging skills are, "she arranges flowers like an artist paints a canvas". send the article to a local newspaper, they are always looking for little stories.

There are many ways you can help her, by asking this question you have helped her because everyone that reads this will know that there is a new flower store opening in Panabo!

Daisies (both yellow and white) with which pink or fuchsia flower?

Sorry, again but this time for the people in the garden section. I want flower arrangements with yellow and white daisies (the little ones not gerberas) but also a pink or fuchsia flower. I think they need a hint of color... Any recomendations? Thanks.

Daisies (both yellow and white) with which pink or fuchsia flower?
you can add gerberas for extra colour and I think they would look nice with "normal" daisies

carnations are also nice (I don't like bunches of carnations alone but mixed they add nice colour)

snapdragons are interesting looking and colourful

sweet peas are adorable

with daises I would add something "natural" looking, I think something like an orchid would look wrong together
Reply:if lilacs are in bloom they would be grand; if not, a few pink roses
Reply:Daisies are small flowers so think small. I wouldn'tv choose fuchia because it will kill the delicate look of the daisies
Reply:The best way that I have to add this color in this type of format with these flowers is:

Use a clear vase with the glass colored beads in the color that you are striving for.

However, you could possiblely use maybe carnations that have been dyed.

What is the best way to clean silk flower arrangements (roses)?

I just swish mine around in cold soapy water for a couple of minutes, rinse and dry gently in a towel. Actually, I do that for all of my silk flowers.

What is the best way to clean silk flower arrangements (roses)?
This may sound wierd, but put them in a bag with salt, and shake it. take out and spray with compressed air or dust them or shake off the salt.
Reply:buy real ones
Reply:I swish mine GENTLY in luke warm water with a little detergent, then you could pat dry GENTLY and if wanted, you could hang upside down to dry thoroughly. Tie the stems together before you start with some string and then you could peg on clothes line by the string. If you dust them often, you wont need to wash them frequently.
Reply:This will probably sound odd but my wife has used an old makeup/blush brush to clean the silk flower arrangement on our dresser. It did a great job.
Reply:Fine Mist and Dry

How do you clean/dust dried flower arrangements?

It depends on how fragile they are, but u can blow your hairdryer on low cool setting on them or use one of those lint cloth things. Also fill a garbage bag with rice, place arrangement in and toss around.

How do you clean/dust dried flower arrangements?
thanks to whom ever voted. Report It

Reply:put them in a plastic bag and pour in a handful of salt. close bag and shake. the flowers should come out dust free.
Reply:I use canned air(like for the computer) but use it from a distance due to the flowers being fragile.
Reply:When I make my dried flower arrangements ........I first spray with hairspray.......that keeps the petals and small flower stems from falling off.......when the hairspray is dry.........I then spray with furniture polish........this seems to repell the dust. But before I used any of this.....I just use to vacuum off what dust I could.....then hang in the shower and let the steam clean them....
Reply:A vacuum with the brush attachment.

What is a good alternative to flower arrangements at a wedding?

I am helping a friend plan her wedding. Our budget is basically non-exsistent. We had planned to gather fresh flowers for the table centerpieces. Now we are having a drought and due to an accident on the bridge to our Island, we have had to stop irrigating! There is very little chance that we will be able to find flowers. Any creative suggestions will be appreciated! The wedding colors and blue and teal. No special theme - just inexpensive (or free would be even better). Thanks.

What is a good alternative to flower arrangements at a wedding?
I went to a wedding a couple weeks ago and they had nice table centerpieces. They had heart shaped dishes (the bride got them for a dollar a piece at the dollar store) filled with hersheys kisses, hugs, etc. Then, she took some fake wedding rings, (a dollar a bag at the dollar store) and took 2 and tied them together with a piece of pretty white ribbon. She just scatterd them around the heart dishes. It was really really cute. At the main table, they had pretty much the same thing, except the main centerpiece was a picture of the couple in a really nice frame. Good luck!

Reply:Try a "minimalist" arrangement of driftwood or dried twigs (gathered, of course) sprayed with spray-glue and dusted with teal and blue glitter. The twigs can be held up in not-too tall containers filled with dry sand (from the island's beach). Even tin cans can be cleaned up and spray painted with metallic paint.

Use those little "tea light" candles (really cheap) strategically placed within the arrangement. - punch holes in the tin cans with a hammer and various sized nails and punches, chisels etc. for a folksy lantern effect.

Use a larger piece of driftwood and inexpensive pillar candles for the head table.
Reply:Fruit centerpieces, they smell good and are a hell of a lot cheaper than flowers! (ex. whole apples, oranges, kiwi, etc)
Reply:Get shallow but wide mouth clear dishes. Fill them with water and use floating candles (which I'm sure can be found in blue and teal) and petals (real or fake). The dishes don't have to be the same, that can add to the uniqueness of every table and ease the burden of finding however many of the same exact dish. I included a picture that is a little more extravagant but can be toned down and still work. Hope it all goes well!
Reply:Get glass hurricane vases (closed on the bottom) head to the beach then fill them 1/3 of the way up with sand, then place a white or blue or teal tall thick candle in them. Very inexpensive and very classy. Candles are always the way to go.
Reply:I like the whole fruit in a glass bowl...it looks very fresh! You could also get sand ($5 at a home store for 50 pounds) and put some fresh branches, etc coming out from a vase....
Reply:Purchase matting for a picture frame (1 for each table) place in the center w/ some markers/pens %26amp; have the guests write their best wishes to the bride %26amp; groom on the matting. Then once they have pictures developed from the wedding %26amp; honeymoon, they can use them - no money wasted! And matting is extremly cheap. Shouldn't cost more than $20 for all of the tables.
Reply:Try Gold fish in any type of bowl, I'm sure you could even go to a second hand store to find some. Put two in each bowl; a white one and a black one (bride and groom) then tie a ribbon around the top in blue and/or teal. Fish are usually pretty cheap. If you want go one better allow someone from each table to them home and then there is no worries about what to do with them after the wedding. Make it a game.

Have fun.
Reply:Go to your local dollar store! Little chests or jewelry boxes with necklaces or strings of beads in your wedding colors on pretty tapestry style table mats or scraps of material would be very pretty as well as inexpensive. It can be formal or informal. You could also use china bowls(either have or buy cheap) and fill them with snacks that you had already planned for your wedding. The cupcake racks that are at Walmart are cheap and would be nice also. Good Luck!
Reply:we went to the dollar store and got candles.. and glass hurricain lamps... then take a flower or two and sprinkle peadles
Reply:Pick up some thin twigs and branches, use silver spray paint to paint them, arrange them in a decorative fashion. use a few blue and teal fake or paper flowers, and there you have it
Reply:I think that candles are the way to go. They are very inexpensive and bring a romantic feel to any wedding. You could just get some candles (omit the vase to cut costs and to bring a little natural elegance). I would put maybe three different sized candles on each table and sprinkle some blue/teal pebble rocks (you can get them at any craft store) on each table as well.
Reply:Flower Balls. If u have HEB grocery stores they can special order the amount of flower bunches needed at no shipping cost.Flower bunches of 7 open roses are only $1 a bunch %26amp; you only need 3 1/2 for each.Foam is $1 at dollar stores. You just stick them all around evenly %26amp; it looks pretty big %26amp; elegant for only $4.50 a piece. Also next to that I am putting a little frame that you use for the guest names,I made color copies of a picture of us %26amp; put it in the frame instead of the name. They come 6 for a $1 at the dollar stores. On each of our parents tables will be a silver frame of an 8 1/2 X 11.So thats only 2 big frames for about $5.00.
Reply:candles EVERYWHERE... michaels sells them in bulk for cheaper, and dollar store for candles... if you have some fake flowers at home you could put with the candles?
Reply:Have you already ordered the cake?

If not, it is cheaper to make (or buy) small cakes and put one on each table as the center piece than it is to buy an expensive tall fancy cake.

Basically the best way to save money when planning a wedding is to try and use things for duplicate reasons. Then you can cut out something... make sense?

Or make your centerpieces be the same thing that you give out as favors...etc.

Good luck!
Reply:1. Get a mirror. Put a hurricane lamp on the mirror with a cream or white candle (to make it look lighter). On the mirror, sprinkle some sparkles/confetti that match your colors. Decorate the hurricane lamp with some blue ribbon and make a bow or something for it with some silk flowers (arts and crafts store).

2. Get a tall glass vase. Put feathers (the long white ones, or mix-and-match) inside and fill the vase about half way with sparkles/confetti that match your colors. (saw this on TV -- actually looked cool)

3. See #1, but use a wider bowl instead of the hurricane lamps, and use floating candles.

Good luck!
Reply:I used balloons. You can buy a little hand pump pretty cheap at a party store. then tie them to a "balloon stick" and put them in a plastic flute glass filled with candy or what ever to hold them up straight. You can fill one balloon with another and that looks pretty cool. Ask at your local party or craft store how to do that since it's hard to explain.
Reply:I decorated the church with greenery, plumosa fern, springherii, variegated ivy, with baby's breath and rented large fern for side accents. The variegated bows on these arrangements, accented the wedding colors and the wedding party were thecenter of attention. Simple, but elegant
Reply:The best thing I can think of that is inexpensive is hershey kisses
Reply:Here are a few suggestions. They can be used separately or together creatively. Try balloons, ice sculptures or fruit sculptures. Also, you can visit a hobby store and ask them about making ribbon flowers. Hand made ribbon roses can look especially nice when set in a vase of crystal stones or designed into a large centerpiece. making flyers and asking local bridal botiques to advertise them may be the best way also making some flowers and showing them in bridal shows are also number one startes of the bridal business.

Reply:Go to the office supply store and get a ream of multi colored paper. Design on a sheet of paper how and what it is that you offer. Do not put the cost you want for them to call you for the price. Once you get the design of your flier down. You go and find a copier and you put your paper in the tray and make your copies don't do them all you may want to change the design. Next you go to the bridal shops and supermarkets. If you can try to make a book of the different arrangements that you have or can make. Hope this helps lots of luck.

If my PRICE RANGE is $50-$100 What type of FLOWER ARRANGEMENT should I BUY...Please answer...?
Roses, you can get a very nice arrangement for 100$
Reply:i think it will be better if u just gave em the $100...
Reply:xmmm nice thought. My kids send me fresh flowers on special occasions and they are really pretty. Do they live in an apt? house? love yard work? there is so many options if they have a yard to set out plants. Does your mom like indoor plants? in that price range you could really get a nice plant to keep for a long time and they always make the house comfy with green around.....so think of what they are like and YOU pick...just remember..fresh is pretty only a short time....green is lasting
Reply:good for you !!!!! I think carnations
Reply:Depends on what the argument was about . And I wouldn't send flowers ,I would do it in person. Maybe approach the parent who is the easiest to talk to and feel them out and see if they are willing to talk. Take them out to dinner or something but if you haven't' spoken in 3 months it needs to be reconciled in person and with calmness. Please sort it out now because you only get one set of parents and when they are gone they are gone. Don't let this continue until you end up sitting on a funeral pew weeping about regrets and wishing you had said I'm sorry when you didn't. Good luck and I hope it works out for all of you.Bring the flowers.Any kind will do. Anything that catches your eye that you think will look nice in their home.
Reply:i'd make up with the most expensive...and chocs
Reply:Lilies look spectacular and they usually aren't too over priced. Really stunning, I promise you, and much better then something cliche like roses, roses, roses!

Flower arrangement question?

How do you arrange flowers after you buy a bouquet from the grocery store? I have no idea on how to arrange flowers. I would just stick them in a vase and add water but they look tacky cause they're not arranged. Isn't there an easy technique for flower arranging? Any good websites?

Flower arrangement question?
Personally, my favorite flower is alstroemeria. I buy enough so that the stems are tight in the vase, strip off leaves that are below the edge of the vase and put them in the water. Flower arranging is done.

some of the higher end grocery stores (ie Gelson's) will hold free floral arranging demos once a month.

right now, hand tied bouquets are very in. you hold ea. stem in your hand as you add the next one in- filling empty spots and spreading color- etc. then you tie it and drop it in a vase. if it doesn't look right, try trimming the stems until it fits the mouth of the vase properly.

good luck!

Flower arrangement ideas....for a staircase....?
I did a web search for "floral decorations for stairway" and came up with some pictures and ideas, that you will find interesting.
Reply:Try wrapping the banister with a garland of flowers. Put a big bouquet on the end pole.
Reply:You could "swoop" tthe tulle and use flowers to attach it to the railing. Leave it draping and full. Ribbon would also add a flourish.

What is oasis that is used in flower arrangements made from?

Phenolics (PF) or (phenol formaldehydes)

high modulus, relatively heat resistant, and excellent fire resistant polymer. Used for insulating parts in electrical fixtures, paper laminated products (e.g. "Formica"), thermally insulation foams. It is a thermosetting plastic, with the familiar trade name Bakelite, that can be moulded by heat and pressure when mixed with a filler-like wood flour or can be cast in its unfilled liquid form or cast as foam, e.g. "Oasis". Problems include the probability of mouldings naturally being dark colours (red, green, brown), and as thermoset difficult to recycle.

How to create outdoor flower baskets from silk flowers?

HI

I would like to create a few flower arrangements from silk flowers for use outside on deck and porch to compliment the real flowers. I have been pretty successful when displaying in vases (although I have to regularly dump out rainwater) but I'd like to create arrangements like flower baskets and plant pots. I'm not sure what to use to anchor the flowers in that will not be ruined or rotted by rainwater but also won't be too heavy to lift. I know that indoor arrangements have some sort of foam or similar material but I wasn't sure if this would work outside.

Any suggestions???

How to create outdoor flower baskets from silk flowers?
I use pretty pots and use what ever size styrofoam I need from the art and crafts department. Then I put some mulch on top. Then I create my flower arrangement. The styrofoam last a very long time and does not rot. Never have any problems doing it this way. Hope I helped you some.
Reply:Have you ever tried the spray foam that they use around electric outlets? This stuff works pretty good you should try it if you haven't already. If your using a flower pot only that way if it swells too much you can trim it off. Report It

Cut flower garden- which plants grow best in the tropics?

I live on a Caribbean island. I'd like to put in a cut flower garden so I can do flower arrangements. Right now I have a lot of bird of paradise flowers, but I'm looking for some variety. I'd like to order some seeds from the US, and pick up whatever I can find locally. But I'm not sure what holds over well in a vase.

Cut flower garden- which plants grow best in the tropics?
I live on Maui, and Gingers, red, pink, and blue, do excellent here, and when I cut them the flowers will last a week or two. Try gingers, of course birds, orchids grow great here, just to name a few, but the best one is the ginger plant. I love those big red flowers. Also haleconia's grow excellent, and make beautiful flower arrangements.
Reply:send me some seeds
Reply:I am not knowledgable about tropical soils, temps, etc.; but if I lived in the tropics I would get some zinnia (annual) seeds %26amp; pot them up . I think zinnias are one of the best cut flower for a vase %26amp; come in many varieties, colors, shapes %26amp; sizes. The only thing lacking with this flower is it has no scent, so I don't know if you are looking for just color , but these would do well %26amp; are fairly easy to grow, have very sturdy stems %26amp; long lasting blooms.

My boss got a beautiful flower arrangement the other day, but it's loaded with lilies and I am allergic.?

What is a nice way to ask her to get rid of it without offending her? Or should I just tough it out? HELP!

My boss got a beautiful flower arrangement the other day, but it's loaded with lilies and I am allergic.?
I think lilies tend to last pretty long after they've been picked, not like roses which only last a week, so if you're going to tough it out, you'll be toughing it for a couple weeks. Maybe you should try over-the-counter allergy medication first, and if it doesn't help, just ask your boss to move it. She shouldn't be too offended if you explain why.
Reply:tell her about your allergy. ask her if she can move them somewhere else or take them home. if you keep sneezing all day that will be disruptive to your work.
Reply:You can actually remove the parts that are causing your allergies. It's usually the pollen that's bothersome. It grows on the anthers. Dampen a tissue with water and use it to pinch the anthers and pull the pollen off (be careful not to get the pollen on you -- it sticks and it stains clothing). Here is a great diagram of the parts of a lily. Good luck!
Reply:just tell her about your allergies. she should understand
Reply:It might be sensible to avoid that flower arrangement or at least to take sick leave before you ruin yourself and your work performances in front of her.
Reply:I'd suggest taking allergy pills for a few days if you have any. If not, I'm sure she wouldn't be offended if you just tell her that you're allergic, since you're not really saying anything bad about her as a person. I'd understand if someone (might I mention) *politely asked* me to move a plant or take a pet outside because that person's allergic.
Reply:Can the arrangement be moved to a location where the flowers won't bother you?

If not, tell your boss that you're allergic and maybe she can take the flowers home where she can enjoy them without any trouble.
Reply:I think Shibi's suggestion is very sensible.
Reply:Stay away from the flowers.
Reply:Thank him for the gift. Next time when you get to talk to him tell him that you are grateful for the gift but that you are allergic to that kind of flower.
Reply:she shouldn't have to get rid of the flower arrangement just because your allergic to it, you should take an allergy med that doesn't make you sleepy. as for your boss you would offend her afterall the flowers were given to her and she is your boss, your not the boss of her.

Is there a website that shows some ideas for wedding flower arrangements I can look at?

I am getting married in august and I would like to make my own arrangements with silk flowers and I need some idea's. It is a long way off but I would like to start looking.

Is there a website that shows some ideas for wedding flower arrangements I can look at?
The simplist way is toy do a Search on Google or Yahoo in the images section. Type in wedding bouquets, wedding flowers, wedding centerpieces, etc and you are sure to find ones you like. You'll even find links to the web pages the images came from! Good Luck!
Reply:For ideas/pictures of all kinds of things for your wedding (flowers, cakes, dresses), try www.theknot.com or www.weddingchannel.com to name a couple and see what you can mimic with silk from those. Or another good idea is to go to google and type in "silk wedding flower arrangements" or variations of that (maybe mentioning colors you want to use), hit search and then click on the "images" button at the top left of the screen to get lots of great ideas. It helped me :)
Reply:Yes!!! Simply use Google and type in "wedding bouqets" and you will get TONS of sites with pictues and how-to's.

Simply use the internet to do your research! If you happen to live by a Michael's craft store, I know they have "lessons" where the whole bridal party can go in and they will help you make the arrangements! (I used to work at Michael's).

Good luck!

Which cut flowers make the best, long-lasting fresh flower arrangements?

I live in North Carolina, if that matters. Looking for an arrangement that has height and is aromatic, if possible.

Which cut flowers make the best, long-lasting fresh flower arrangements?
Carnations and mums last the longest of the easy to obtain cut flowers. Sprays of orchids are long lasting too. Blue iris and lilies are the shortest lived. You can extend the life of flowers in a vase by keeping them as cool as possible and recutting the stems and changing the water every day.
Reply:I really like freesias. The stems are very elegant and usually look great in a tall vase. They are a relatively long lasting cut flower...about ten days ( to two weeks if kept cooler). Buy them in bud for best results. They are beautifully fragrant, but subtle enough that most men don't complain!

Help: Twin kittens tearing up silk flower arrangements?Pet store spray solutions do not work.?

I have twin kittens and they keep tearing up my silk flower arrangements. I have purchased many types and kinds of sprays at pet stores, but they do not work. I have even tried spraying with water/vingear solution, still does not work. Does anyone have a solution short of hiding all the arrangements behind closed doors?

Help: Twin kittens tearing up silk flower arrangements?Pet store spray solutions do not work.?
Cats hate the smell of menthol or eucalyptus oil. Try adding a few drops to your flower arrangements as the smell should deter them from going near.
Reply:get a scratching post treated with catnip. they'll prefer that over the flowers.
Reply:Orange peels are suppose to work. just remove them fromthe orange ans set out- they hold the scent for a long time as well so no need to change them that often.Works for dogs I know- I heard it was the remedy for cats though.
Reply:get water pistal hide it from the cats every time they go to distroy your flowers give them a quick squirt

. don't let them see you do it because they have to associate the getting wet part with the flowers, not with you.

or else they will just wait until your not around before going back to the flowers
Reply:put the arrangements away for a few months, these are cats and they will do wotever the hell they want.so wen they do be naughty just spray them with bit of water.or if they not destroying anything else let them have there own flowers but once destroyed they wil find something else.dont leave them to wander the house at nite wen ur in bed or at the shops or work, small cage is ok until they settle down, they playing thats all.enjoy
Reply:Place the silk flower arrangements where the cats cannot reach them. I had to hang all my houseplants from the ceiling. It actually works very well. My cats don't even notice them! If you tried sprays then the only solution would be to place them out of the way until the cats are older... kittens love to get into everything :)
Reply:Take it from me- a longtime cat owner- the more they hear NO the more appealing the arrangements become.

Try getting them thier own arrangements to play with.

The fake flowers are the perfect cat toy- just be sure there's nothing that could come off %26amp; choke them.

Then- put all of your own flower arrangements behind closed doors :)

How can i protect oasis in a small arrangement?

Im making a very small (around 3 1/2 inches) flower arrangement for the middle of a wedding cake box arrangement. Im using oasis for the arrangement but how can i protect the oasis? what can i put around it? i cant find any containers small enough.

How can i protect oasis in a small arrangement?
You don't say if you are using fresh or silk flowers. If you are using fresh, look in the section of any craft store for small round candle cups. If you are using dried florals, cut a piece of foam core board to fit the bottom of the box, and tape the oasis to it with floral tape (not floral stem tape) Go from the bottom of the foam core, over the oasis, back to the bottom. The ferns should hide your mechanics.
Reply:the lid from something like a hair spray can works too.

Where can i buy an artificial table arrangement for the home?

Where can i buy an artificial table arrangement for the home?
I am way out of my league here but I saw my wife and daughter get a nice vase, select flowers from a craft store and make their own.

I think this is the best advice because you end up with exactly what you want arranged the way you want.
Reply:Try ebay, I got a really nice floral centrepiece on it last year. There are always plenty available in different styles, colours, sizes etc, so you should find one to suit.
Reply:Why would you want to?

Artificial flowers are very very naff.

Buy a pot plant, it will not only look nice but improve the air quality.

I need some ideas for making my flower arrangement look more attractive.?

PLEASE HELP ME FOR MY FLOWER ARRANGEMENT COMPETATION.HOPING TO GET VALUABLE AND WONDERFUL IDEAS FROM ALL THE YAHOO USERS.

I need some ideas for making my flower arrangement look more attractive.?
Hmmm my idea would be to use lots of baby breaths. ALso ribbons help!
Reply:Add some bamboo sticks, the small ones. They lend a different air of uniqueness amidst the flowers.
Reply:If I were you, I'd go to the library and look for flower arranging books. Thumb through them until you find a design that inspires you. Get some really cheap flowers at a dollar store to practice on, until you master the techniques used. The books should explain to you what line, filler and focal flowers are. It should also explain how to pick the proper container height, how tall your tallest flower should be etc. Once you do the research and find the proper instruction book, you should be able to make a lovely arrangement.
Reply:OK, I'll admit it. I'm not a great floral arranger. But the best advice I ever saw on TV was:

1. Buy flowers you love.

2. Start with the flowers that have the largest blooms/head. Then add in the medium sized ones, and finally the smallest ones.

3. Arrange them in your hand like you're holding a bouquet.

4. Play with and adjust the heights BEFORE you cut the stems.

4. Hold your bouquet next to the vase you're going to use.

5. Now, cut your stems to fit.

6. Put the flowers in the vase.

7. Add water!
Reply:spend some time selecting an unusual %26amp; attractive conatiner ,i find a one tone arrangment very striking ,like roses %26amp; carnations in one colour ,shades can vary in fact make the arrangment more attractive, white roses with white lillies look stunning.concentrate on background since it is a display for a competition the background will not be your choice ,for a japanese effect, try keeping a small bamboo mat, under the arrangment.an accompaning object for contrast adds to the effect,a small candle in suitable colour in an attractive candle holder or a small decorative piece kept near the arrangment looks good. Best of luck with the competition .

What popular flowers were used in flower arrangements in the 1930's ?

I need to recreate flower arrangements that would be indicative of those used in the movies or around Hollywood or in movie stars homes in the Art Deco era.

What popular flowers were used in flower arrangements in the 1930's ?
Calla Lillies, as cut flower, "the white ones are popular at Easter and in wedding bouquets where they epitomize the 1930's glamour ... They have such superb lines that they have been used frequently in Art Nouveau ... " http://experts.about.com/q/Floral-Arrang...

I personally think they are very nice as a simple boquet using only the Calla Lillies with ribbon and/or pearls wrapped/tied around the stems.

"Dahlias, quite the hot item in the 1920s and 1930s, are suddenly rising to the forefront again" http://goliath.ecnext.com/coms2/summary_...

Haven't found anything to back this up yet, but I think roses might have also been big in the 30's

How to make flower arrangement?

The difference between a fresh bouquet and a fake arrangement is huge! Mess up on the fresh...oh well..so it's gone in a week. A silk flower arrangement takes lots of time and equipment to complete. You need the flowers, the green foam, the special floral cutters, the stakes, and the green tape.

Each piece has to be individually cut from the stem, attached to the stake, wrapped with tape and inserted into the foam.

Generally this is done with highest flowers in the center with graduating sizes outward. However, some more contemporary arrangements have a-symmetrical styles.

To to the FTD site and look at how some of the Floral arrangements were made by the professionals and see if that helps.

Good luck!

How to make flower arrangement?
taller flowers in the middle for a table arrangement and for an arrangement you'll only see from one angle taller flowers in back.biggest Flowers on bottom and work your way up with the smaller ones, smallest flowers being longest
Reply:you would want to put the tallest flowes in the middle of like a vase so you don't block any other flowers...find colors that go really well together and lots of other sizes...you want small to large flowers....hope i helped
Reply:It's funny -- I just saw the most beautiful arrangement, and this question came up! If using fresh flowers, use pink roses with magnolias; I've never seen such a unique arrangement. You can do the same with silk flowers, but of course you'll need the green or white sytrofoam at the bottom of the vase to hold them in place. For the real flowers, but them in about 1/2 vase of water with a crushed aspirin -- no kidding, that aspirin makes them last much longer!

The best to you and your lady!
